This week’s essential oils blog post is all about hay fever and heatwaves, because I don’t know about you, but the dry eyes, sniffling, sneezing, humidity and feeling of suffocation and lack of sleep is driving me wild …
I need my sleep, I need to feel like my brain is working… And I want a natural solution.
There’s a reason why historically sleep deprivation was a form of torture…
For me it’s not just the hay fever, although my husband suffers terribly, it’s the heat at night, it’s so hot and stuffy, we’re all struggling to sleep.
Que a touch of plant power!
So to help I’ve started blending doTerra’s peppermint, lemon and lavender essential oils as well as using doTerras blend Air, and using them in two ways, topically and through diffusion.
When using topically, in the mornings after I’ve showered, I mix doTerras AIR essential oil blend with coconut oil for safety and also to create a gorgeous moisturiser. I then massage in to my chest, back, shoulders, neck, feet, legs the works!
It’s fabulously refreshing and gives you a real pep up to start your day. I repeat before I go to bed to freshen up and cool down. I also add a touch of lavender too for some extra relaxation and comfort.
NOTE- Your feet have the biggest pores on your body so absorb things super quick. So if you struggle with cooling down, pop your feet in to some cold water with a little Tea tree and peppermint… it works wonder!
At the same time I’m also diffusing the combination of essential oils below around my home in the morning, throughout the day, and particularly in my bedroom at night. I make sure to put my diffuser on about an hour before I go to bed, and also let it keep diffusing while I fall asleep. It really is wonderfully cooling and relaxing.
Not only does this help me breathe easier, it relaxes my body and calms my nervous system which makes for a blissful nights sleep.
Give it a go and let me know how you get on!
